Für uns alle bei Wyke ist Nachhaltigkeit eine Lebenseinstellung. Wir arbeiten seit vier Generationen in Partnerschaft mit der Natur und sind stolz darauf, Pioniere und weltweit führend in der nachhaltigen Landwirtschaft zu sein.
Bei Wyke ist die Pflege der Landschaft genauso wichtig wie der Geschmack unseres Cheddars. Dieser Respekt für die Natur ist Teil unserer Arbeit und in der DNA der Familie verankert. Wir achten immer darauf, dass wir mehr zurückgeben, als wir nehmen, als Teil des Erbes, das uns gegeben wurde und das wir an künftige Generationen weitergeben wollen.
Wyke ist einer der nachhaltigsten Lebensmittelhersteller Europas, der sich auf Kohlenstoffbilanz, grüne Energie und Wasserrecycling konzentriert. Wir stellen unseren Cheddar und unsere Butter mit Energie her, die mit Biogas aus unserer eigenen anaeroben Vergärungsanlage und mit Solarenergie erzeugt wird. Dabei schützen wir Lebensräume und Arten und fördern aktiv die Flora und Fauna im Brue Valley.
Dieses Engagement gewährleistet, dass unser Cheddar nicht nur gut schmeckt, sondern auch die Umwelt, auf die wir alle angewiesen sind, respektiert und schont. „Kümmere dich um die Natur und sie kümmert sich um dich“, so lautet ein Motto unserer Familie.
Auf unserem Bauernhof in Wyke Champflower in der Grafschaft Somerset, der Hauptstadt der englischen Käseherstellung, stellen wir unseren Cheddar-Käse und unsere Bauernbutter seit über 160 Jahren auf die gleiche Art und Weise her.
